Home Course Indian Hills Country Club, Opelousas, Louisiana
A par 71 layout that can be tipped out at about 6500 yards, Indian Hills Country club in Opelousas, Louisiana seems to be a benign test of golf. The truth is once you tee off you realize that this course will not give up too many easy shots and it will put tremendous pressure on your short game. The course was designed in the 1940's with many similarities to a Donald Ross layout. The greens are exceptionally small and difficult to not only hold but get the ball close to the hole. Combined this with some tight fairways, this course forces you to be a shot maker to score well. IHCC provides an excellent practice facility that is well kept and quiet. This is a perfect learning environment for Thomas T Wartelle's Golf Schools. Thomas' grew up on this golf course and has the distinction of being the last caddie when he was a teenager. He also has shot a course record of 60 on two occasions but in general, Indian Hills will extract at least some revenge during any given round. |
